Localfy / Privacy

Your library and your data.

Effective October 21, 2026 · Localfy Version 1.0.6

Our commitment

Nyvera never sells data to third parties.

Information on your PC

Localfy stores settings and library information locally, including track metadata, playlists, favorites, listening statistics, queue and bookmark state, lyrics, and locally available artwork. Ordinary imports leave audio files in their selected locations. Localfy stores file paths in its catalog and does not copy imported audio into its managed music folder. If a source file is moved, use Library Health to locate it again. Localfy does not require an account or sync the library to a cloud service.

Optional library protection

Library protection is off by default. If enabled in Settings, Windows Data Protection for the current Windows account protects Localfy catalogs and managed music. Original source files, the profile list, playback-state files, artwork, lyrics, older backups, and ZIP exports are not protected by this setting. Playback uses a temporary readable copy under Localfy’s local data folder; an unexpected shutdown can leave one behind. The protection is tied to the Windows account and normally the same PC. It is not a replacement for Windows device encryption and does not protect data from software already running as your Windows user.

Optional crash reports

Crash reporting is off by default. If enabled, Localfy stores reports encrypted on this PC. Reports can contain exception details, system and Localfy version information, and track names or paths. You can review, copy, or delete reports in Settings. Turning reporting off stops future captures but does not delete existing reports. Localfy never uploads reports automatically. Choosing Email support opens a draft; a report is shared only if you add it and send it through your email provider.

Optional album lookup

Album lookup is user initiated. Clicking Search sends the album title and artist to MusicBrainz. Requests also identify the Localfy version and public support contact in the User-Agent. Cover Art Archive images are not requested when results arrive or are selected; Localfy requests a cover only after you click Preview cover. It saves the cover to your profile only if you click Apply details + cover. These services receive ordinary network request information, such as your IP address and request metadata. Consult their policies before using lookup.

The reviewed source did not show audio files, full file paths, the entire library, or listening history being sent to those services. This is a source-review finding; runtime network traffic has not been captured to confirm the app’s behavior.

Installer prerequisite

If Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8.1 is missing, Setup downloads the Microsoft installer from an official Microsoft endpoint and checks its Authenticode signature and publisher before starting it. Microsoft receives ordinary network request information for that download. Setup does not send your music or Localfy library data to Microsoft.

Optional product metrics

Product metrics are off by default. If you opt in, Localfy sends the app version, event type (install, launch, or crash/unexpected exit), UTC calendar date, a random installation ID, and a random session ID for launch and crash events over HTTPS to Nyvera. These pseudonymous identifiers are used to estimate opted-in installations, 30-day activity, returning use, and a limited unexpected-exit rate. If delivery fails, Localfy keeps the event in an encrypted local queue and retries on a later start; a queued event is removed after a successful server response. Turning sharing off clears the queue. Localfy does not send music, metadata, filenames, paths, account names, exception messages, or stack traces. Cloudflare processes ordinary request data, including IP addresses, to deliver and protect the service.

The active session marker and pending events are protected for the current Windows account. A forced close, power loss, or Windows shutdown can leave the marker, so the crash figure is only an estimate. Session records are retained for 90 days; inactive installation records for 180 days. You can turn sharing off in Settings, which clears queued events but retains the random local ID. Erase shared data removes the local ID and queues a server deletion request; if offline, Localfy retries later. A short-lived pseudonymous suppression record remains for up to 90 days to stop delayed events recreating deleted records. Aggregate website and download counts are separate and cannot be linked to that ID.

Accounts and updates

Localfy does not require sign-in or automatically upload your library. Updates are published on the Nyvera website. The source review has not been confirmed by a full runtime network capture.

Support email

When you email support, Nyvera receives the address, message, and attachments you send through Gmail. Google and your email provider process the message for delivery. Share only the information necessary for the enquiry. For data questions, email [email protected].
